These splendid designs come from Usbekistan and are based on traditional patterns found on many of their larger 19th century embroidered hangings known as suzani. Most of the designs from Bukhara and Tashkent cover the surface area in pattern leaving little of the background unstitched. In the kits the pattern outline is printed on the fabric and uses two or three familiar stitches. The design is then worked within the outline from a chart. Stitches used are flat, satin or stem stitch.

The kit contains 100% cotton calico fabric for both the front and back of the cushion, Anchor stranded cotton, a photograph of the finished piece, a black and white chart, a needle and instructions.
