Margaret
Murton's needlepoint designs are influenced by the gardens
of the great country houses and parks, and the rich textiles
and tapestries of the Elizabethan period. The English landscape
features prominently in her painting too. Her technique of
painting translucent forms onto old wooden pannelling means
that the graining and images emerge one from the other, and
this gives the work a textural quality like old tapestries. |
"There's always so much to see.
I never fail to come back from a walk full of
ideas and enthusiasm... Every season has something
to offer. "
